Fees
vary depending on the service but most are based on a
sliding fee scale. Medicaid, BCBS, and other insurances are billed for covered
services. No one is refused services due to inability to pay.

Women's Health Service
- Annual Pap and Pelvic Exams*

Provera Injection, Birth Control Pills, and Condoms**
- HIV Counseling and testing for persons in "highest risk"
catagories (IV drug users, sexual contact with known HIV positive,
and male homosexuals)
- STD and HIV Testing and counseling
- Pregnancy Counseling and Testing
- Screening for anemia, high blood pressure, immunization
status, and urinary tract infections
*Can be based on sliding fee scales if financial eligibility requirements are
met and proof of financial status is approved.
** In order to take advantage of low-cost birth control methods provided by
the Health Department clients must be enrolled in our Women's Health Program.
Early Detection Works
Through
education, screening, diagnosis and referral for treatment, Early Detection
Works strives to reduce death from breast and
cervical cancer among the women of Kansas.
As of July 2003, more than 13,750 women have been
screened through the Early Detection Works (formerly FREE
To Know) program. A total of 142 CIS and invasive breast cancer cases have been
discovered. One hundred fifty-five cases of CIN III / CIS and invasive cervical
cancer have been identified. As of August 2003, 60 women were receiving
treatment for breast or cervical cancer under the Kansas Treatment Act.
The Early Detection Works
program pays for breast and cervical cancer screening services for Kansas women
who:
- Are at least 40 years old but no more than 64 years.
- Do not have insurance or have insurance that does not pay for these
services or has insurance with a high deductible. Women who have Medicare
Part B or Medicaid/MediKan are not eligible.
